Kaskivaara Farm: Strength from Nature, Close to Animals
In the quiet landscapes of Rautjärvi lies a special place – Kaskivaara Farm, created by Katri Einovaara, whose heart has always belonged to animals and nature. On her animal sanctuary, animals have found a new home and are lovingly cared for by Katri on a voluntary basis. Here, compassion for animals, connection to nature, and the deep knowledge that encounters with animals can give people new energy come together.
Between the forest and a traditional kota hut, guests find moments of peace, closeness, and authenticity. Tame animals – sheep, horses, chickens, and pigs – invite visitors to slow down, feel, touch, and breathe deeply. Every guest is personally welcomed and warmly guided through the farm – each visit is unique.
In the kota, by the open fire, regional specialties like muurinpohjalettu and pannukahvi (outdoor pancakes and fireplace coffee) are offered. These moments create space for encounters, sharing stories, and making lasting memories.

What guests experience:
- A peaceful place to leave everyday noise behind
- The crackling fire and the scents of forest, wool, and freshly prepared local food
- Tame animals that bring closeness, joy, and renewed energy
- Cozy moments in the kota for conversation, laughter, and storytelling
This experience is more than a visit – it is a return:
A return to nature, to oneself, and to the simple joy that comes when animals find a home, we care for them, and we share stories together.
“Eläimellinen elämyspäivä” – An animal-filled day to remember.
